A little snippety snippet from my impending cozy fantasy. She’s in the early stages, but being a fairly short story, I’m making steady progress.

I’ve finished writing the first draft and am doing the “is this trash?” readthrough before handing it to my Alphas with the same question.

I’m precisely halfway through, and hopefully will have it done this week.

And don’t worry, Vestige 2 is making progress as well. But that’s all very top secret. 🤫

She’s 24k words (yes, just a little one) cozy, low stakes, and honestly just what I’ve needed.

Don’t worry, I’ve been working on Vestige 2 as well. But Teapot Dragon makes my heart happy.

Next stage is a read-through and a tidy before it goes to alpha readers. Not major edits, just smoothing the story line, making sure I’m not missing anything.

Anyway, it feels pretty great to have another story coming to my wonderful readers soon. And hopefully will tide them over until the big one is ready.

Stay tuned for things like title reveal and cover stuff… all the usual things. But first I need a cup of tea.

Vestige is definitely the spiciest of my books, but if you’d like some lower spice, slow burn, and lots of pining you might enjoy Project Eden (out now) or Stricken (coming October).

If you’d just need some sweet, cozy and romance free, Teapot Dragon is in the final stages of the first draft, so keep an eye out for updates.

And of course if you like messy characters having I’ll-timed intimate moments while on the run, Vestige in on KU.

Just a reminder this cover is almost out of commission.

And once it’s gone it’s really gone, because I am not paying the vanity press who made it any extra money to transfer the existing files to my name, so when I say gone it’s just getting deleted out of existence.

What She Writes

Fantasy Novels

Fantasy was E. C. Cardey's gateway into a deep love of reading, and that shows through the exceptional worldbuilding and high fantasy themes in the Vestige of the Crown Trilogy.

But she won't stop there. Watch this space for updates on her witchy work in progress, "Familiars", a cozy dragon novella, and the much-anticipated Vestige of the Crown Book Two.

Sci-Fi and Dystopian Novels

Imagining worst case scenarios has been a frequent and long term past-time of E. C. Cardey, which lent itself perfectly to writing sci-fi and dystopian stories.

Concerns about climate disaster, and musing of what would happen if there were no people left, led right into writing Project Eden.

The nagging question of "What would happen if...?" and following it to where the story ends is where her debut began, and has resulted in a pile of planned novels in the future.

Romance Novels

If romance is your genre of choice, both Project Eden and Vestige of the Crown have romantic themes and subplots.

If you're looking for a straight-up Romance with a Happily Ever After, keep an eye out for upcoming works in progress, in particular The Polished Life of Abby Forsyth.
